These little berries need to be cooked before eating, but are high in vitamin C amongst other having other health benefits, making it worth the effort.
The trees are found growing near water and I find most of them in my local nature reserve growing alongside ponds and lakes.
The berries of the Guelder Rose can be made into a jelly which has a really distinctive flavour – a little like old fashioned cough sweets.
