It’s going to be a hot summer…

Chilli Plants

Chilli Plants

At least, if the conservatory full of chilli plants has anything to do with it!

Last year Gosia (“the Wife”) got so fed up of my tomato plants taking up the conservatory that she banned me from growing them again – no fair. Being an ultimately well behaved kind of guy, I decided that compliance was probably the only option I could really take, so this year – no tomatoes. Still, no-one mentioned chilli plants, did they?

What you see photographed is probably around half of the plants currently taking up all of the window ledges in the conservatory. I have more varieties growing than I can pronounce, let alone eat!

Suggestions on how to use up a chilli glut, gladly (and perhaps optimistically) appreciated!

salsa of course…and what about hot pepper jam?  easy to make and delicious poured over cream cheese and spread on crackers…or as a glaze for chicken/fish?

Hot pepper jam sounds like a great idea, I’ve never made it before but sweetness works so well with chilli…

How fun! Your peppers look beautiful.  I also started various seeds indoors — but the peppers, all different kinds, were the little plants that made it beautifully.  My husband will be transplanting the various hot and sweet peppers outside to the garden in the next day or so.  I can’t wait for them to start producing.  Too bad though, that you can’t have at least one or two tomato plants.  You must have been pretty bad!!  :)

She’s complaining about the chillies now, too.  ”When are they going out onto the patio?!” seems to be a daily comment, but I’m far too protective to send them out into the big bad world just yet!
