Free Cookbook Giveaway – The Winner

And it brings me great pleasure to introduce the winner of our recent free cookbook giveaway

R. Carradine, come on down and collect your prizes (Traditional Puddings and Desserts and Supper for Friends by Mary Berry)!

In case anyone wonders how I decided the winner, read on.  I took the total number of entrants (83) and used the wonders of technology (i.e. the internet) to pick a random number (66) within this limit.  This random number was then matched to the comment number of the winner in reverse chronological order.

That’s probably far more technical than it needed to be, but you know me…

    83 entrants is jolly good!

Was it hard to get 83? Any tips for letting people know about the comp?

Tips? Yes; mentioned it a few times on Twitter / Facebook over the past month. I’m sure that helped, but of course have to be careful not to annoy people with it (understandably, people are happy to hear about a free cookbook, but don’t want to hear about it more than once).

Yes, Twitter is very useful. I ran a food blog competition and let lots of food blog forums know. About 7 bloggers promised entries and out of that only two entered – both brilliant, I might add. I think I made my comp was a bit too complicated or exigeant…so I have learnt!

  4. That’s a complicated way of choosing the winner :) ))
I use traditional method, little pieces of paper and my 3 year old daughter choosing the winning one ;)

    Dear Vicky,

Thank you for the prize. My wife will be very excited about this, as she is the cookbook collector in the family. I tried contacting you via email, but I have not heard back. Please let me know if you need any other information from me.

    Thank you, Ross.
