This is a round-up of recipes submitted for our seasonal food blogging event “In The Bag”. This month we chose Purple Sprouting Broccoli as the ingredient – and I’m really impressed with everyone’s ideas for this great vegetable.

Purple sprouting broccoli is one of those vegetables that has such a short season it just cries out to be eaten as much as possible while you still can.

To me the best cakes are the type you can enjoy sitting at home or in a café with a cup of coffee. There seems to be a tradition in England of serving cakes covered in cream or ice cream as a “pudding” – great for your palate, not so good for your waist line.
