Happy (Chinese) New Year!

A couple of days ago I posted a photo and asked you “What Is It?” – and got some great responses, ranging from a microwave exploding to “genetically modified red popcorn exploding out of hot oil after the lid was left off” :D

Chinese New Year

A couple of you got it right though (Vani and Voidan) – it was a firecracker exploding at Chinese New Year (in my local restaurant) – of course!

2007 is the year of the Pig – so if you were born in 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983 or 1995, you’re all pigs too – but I still love you all!

Happy New Year

P.S. I’m no expert on Chinese customs. If I’ve made some glaring mistake in this article, please let me know!

I saw an item on TV not long ago that involved a drunk idiot who thought it would a smart idea to use his rear end as a base from which to light a firework. I hope this firecracker didn’t do you a fraction of the harm.

  2. scott says:

Trig: I photoshop’d my rear end out of this photograph…

  3. peabody says:

Happy year of the pig to you….I look forward to next year since I am a rat!

  4. Brilynn says:

It’s my year! I’m happy to be a big, we’re very smart, and tasty!

  5. scott says:

peabody: hehe, I’m not sure if I’d like to be a rat or not…

Michelle: Thanks – came out better then I’d expected. A little grainy though – and I’m no expert in Photoshop to be able to sort that out.

Brilynn: Smart and tasty works for me :) Incidentally, I’m a sheep – and married a boar (not literally) which is apparently a perfect combination.

  6. Voidan says:

Great to know, that I was right about that pic :)

I was borned in last 3 days of a chinese year, therefor I have a lot from both animals. It seems that I have rear of rabbit (or cat – I guess chinese use one or another for this year, dunno why) & head of the dragon. With that appirance I can broke any mirror by just getting at 3 meters from it

  7. tigerfish says:

Oh, you did a good job!

  8. scott says:

Voidan: I hope you ended up with the “best” of all those personalities and not the worst!

    tigerfish: Thankya very much :)

MeltingWok: I’m not sure if these are “toned down” in some way – I understand that they’re banned in many places?

  11. Great photo, I have to remember to go out and enjoy the festivities next year!

  12. gattina says:

too bad I missed this fun game. But great photo!
I’ve just heard this year is “golden pig year”, only happen every 600 years. But please don’t ask me any detail as I have no clue :D

  13. scott says:

Ari (Baking and Books): You must! Any excuse for a celebration :)

gattina: I’ve no idea, either. I might google it later on (or someone who knows might leave a comment?)
