Kenyan Ugali

Ugali is as much a staple food in Eastern African Culture as Potatoes are in the Western world, or Rice is to China. This is a very simple food served with various types of sauces.

Kenyan Ugali – Ingredients

  •  450g Finely Ground Cornmeal
  •  50g Unsalted Butter
  • 1750ml Water

Kenyan Ugali Recipe – Method

1. Start water boiling in a saucepan, and slowly add the Cornmeal, stirring to avoid lumps.2. Cook for around 4 minutes, to acheive a consistency a little thicker then mashed potato.

3. Stir in the butter.
